1. What is Moco

Moco is a simple library / tool for building simulation servers. This open source project based on Java development has received a lot of attention on Github. The brief introduction to the project describes itself as follows: Moco is a simple framework for building stub, mainly for testing and integration. The development of this framework is inspired by Mock frameworks such as Mockito and Playframework.

2. Why develop this framework?

Integration, especially the integration based on HTTP protocol-web service, REST, etc., is widely used in our project development. In the past, we used to deploy a new WAR to an application server such as Jetty or Tomcat. As we all know, the process of developing and deploying a WAR is boring, even on embedded servers. And every time we make a little change, the entire WAR has to be reassembled.

The emergence of Moco is to solve these problems. As long as the development team makes the corresponding configuration according to their own needs, it will be very convenient to get a simulation server. Moreover, due to the flexibility of Moco itself, its use is no longer limited to the initial integration testing, for example, Moco can be used for mobile development to simulate undeveloped services; Moco can also be used for front-end development to simulate a complete Web server, and so on.
