Router configuration: my basic process of configuring a router for a company is as follows:

1. Before configuring the router, the networking requirements need to be specified and detailed, including the purpose of networking, the role of routers in network interconnection, the division of subnets, the selection of WAN types and transmission media, network security policies and network reliability requirements, etc.

To configure the WAN interface of the router, first configure the physical working parameters of the interface (such as serial port synchronization / async, baud rate and synchronous clock, etc.) according to the selected WAN transmission medium, and configure the DCC parameters for the dial port, and then configure the link layer protocol encapsulated by the interface and the corresponding working parameters according to the selected WAN type.

4. Configure the IP address or IPX network number of each interface of the router according to the division of the subnet

5. Configure routing, and if you need to start a dynamic routing protocol, you also need to configure the working parameters of the relevant dynamic routing protocol

6. If there are special security requirements, you need to configure the security of the router; step 7: if you have special reliability requirements, you need to configure the reliability of the router.
