Not sure why, but makemkv is not found in Ubuntu software for Ubuntu 18.04. However, it can be installed by running a single command in the terminal (opening the terminal by Ctrl + Alt + T):

snap install makemkv

2.) A command is also required to connect to the hardware observation interface:

sudo snap connect makemkv:hardware-observe

(Optional) For any reason, you can easily remove the MakeMKV snap package by running the command in the terminal:

snap remove makemkv

MakeMKV PPA:

For those who prefer to install it via the native Ubuntu .deb package, there is also a PPA repository that contains all current Ubuntu versions of the software.

You can simply open the terminal, run 3 commands, add PPA and install MakeMKV one after another
