In the past two days, users report to IT that there is often a timeout when Client programs access DB, and SA,DBA checks DB server and related networks are normal.

An exception related to the PC in which the Client program is located is initially suspected.

Client program PC IP (10.202.224.35)

Diagnostics:

Step 1 Ping test

Client PC ping DB server found packet loss.

There is also packet loss in the switch gateway where Client PC ping PC is located.

Step 2 the network administrator checks that the switch sends the same MAC address and is constantly refreshed under multiple ports.

Suspected to have something to do with MAC address.

Step 3 query MAC address on Client

Step 4 query arp information on Client (the corresponding table of IP and MAC in this network segment)

It is found that 10.202.224.44 in the arp cache is the same as the MAC of the Client PC (10.202.224.35)!

We know that in the same network segment, the MAC address cannot be the same, otherwise it cannot be connected normally.

After finding the terminal 10.203.224.44 and manually modifying a new MAC, there is no packet loss in the user client.

In addition, why are the two Client terminals MAC address the same?

It is suspected that the manufacturer did not reinstall the driver after producing with a unified "hard ghost".
