Yes, Facebook announced that it has chosen Microsoft's Visual Studio Code as the default development environment within the company. In fact, before turning to VS Code, Facebook already had its own development environment, called Nuclide.

Today, Facebook is migrating Nuclide functionality to Visual Studio Code and is building extensions to improve the development workflow of Facebook.

It is reported that although Facebook developers will install Visual Studio Code locally on laptops, most of the development will be done directly on separate development servers. Therefore, VS Code should access the code on these servers in a seamless manner.

To meet this requirement, Facebook has internally developed a remote development extension to VS Code. Facebook announced that it will share its use of remote development extensions with Microsoft and will also help Microsoft further improve VSCode's remote development extensions.

To help Microsoft enhance its product range, we provide advice through our experience and expertise in supporting remote development of Nuclide. Microsoft has now created such a powerful remote experience that it allows us to move away from our own customized solutions. We are also excited about the remote development capabilities added by Microsoft as an extension for anyone using Visual Studio Code.

Now that Visual Studio Code has become an important part of the future of Facebook, it will be interesting to be the next large organization to move to VS Code.
