Universal Data Access Components (UniDAC) is a general database access component that provides direct access to multiple databases, such as Delphi, C++Builder, Lazarus (and Free Pascal), Mac OS X, iOS, Android, Linux and 64 and 32-bit FreeBSD for Windows. We will focus our long-term experience on this widget to provide unified database connection access (such as oracle, Microsoft SQL, etc.). This means that you can easily switch different databases between your projects and create cross-database application interfaces.

Overview

Data Type Mapping (data type mapping) is a flexible and easy to customize tool that allows mapping between DB types and Delphi field types.

In this article, there are several examples that can be used when dealing with all supported DBS. To clearly show the versatility of data type mapping devices, a separate database will be used for each example.

Data type mapping rules

In versions that do not support data type mapping, UniDAC automatically sets the correspondence between the DB data type and the Delphi field type. In versions with data type mapping, you can manually set the correspondence between the DB data type and the Delphi field type.

The following is an example of the number types in the following table of the PostgreSQL database:
