In the absence of ppp, we use the at instruction to interact with the gprs module in the program, but with ppp, ppp internally does the at instruction to interact with the gprs module.

At the beginning, the chat script inside ppp is a chat script used to interact with the gprs module for AT commands. This chat script uses AT commands to interact with gprs to activate PDP, which means that the network is successful.(Only the terminal we sent the message to gprs) to the Mobile device (refers to gprs) send some information to be networked, gprs after receiving, and then send messages to the upper level, that is, gprs gateway node (GGSN), etc., after a series of cumbersome paths, gprs received a reply from the upper level, including dynamic IP address, and authentication has passed, that is, can be networked, gprs will be available dynamic IP address sent to the terminal. After successful networking, it will enter the data mode and communicate with the network. The previous mode can be called AT command mode. My guess is, it's not something that great people tell me. ppp encapsulates for us the part of AT command networking that interacts with gprs. So we don't interact with gprs as clearly as we did with AT commands in the program.
