1. Preparatory work

1.1. Noun interpretation

Witness: the role of the witness is to coordinate the failure between nodes, that is, when a node fails, it is up to the witness to decide who will continue to take over the service. The witness is used only when there is an even number of DAG member servers and the quorum is needed, and if the primary witness is not available, DAG switches to an alternate witness to implement the arbitration.

The AD service is usually responsible for witnessing the service.

DAG: database highly available group Database Availability Group, which usually consists of two or more mailbox role servers.

1.2, drive letter and size

Before DAG configuration, the drive letter name and size of the member server are required to be the same.

Create a new database availability group

The database availability group name is DAG, the witness server is AD01, and the witness directory is C:\\ DAG. If you do not define this directory, the system will create a folder named "DAGFileShareWitnesses" as the witness directory by default.

The witness server IP is 192.168.20.236
