Neglected oracle user group

Chongqing day, unbearably hot, still running in the heat wave, a brother called to tell a single instance database to add field operation, has been stuck there, can not be carried out. Because I am busy talking about things, I simply give some advice, such as: copy a table, and then try to do this in the newly copied table. But still can not succeed, he is very anxious, keep calling, make me upset. He is once again advised to check the alarm log, look at the directory permissions, and so on. Later, he sent some warning logs one after another. I took Mobile QQ and squinted in the shining sun. I didn't see anything, so I had to tell him that when I was finished and surfing the Internet, I did it myself.

Because oracle is not installed by myself, the intuitive feeling should be a matter of permissions. Remote qq, log in to the system, and first check the group of the oracle user:

Id oracle

Uid=501 (oracle) gid=502 (dba) groups=502 (dba)

Dizzy, why not belong to the group oinstall, then check / etc/group file, oinstall exists ah.

Then get it!

Usermod-g oinstall-G dba oracle

Check the oracle property again

After the change, let him carry on the operation of the new field again, still can't. We have to ask the relevant personnel to suspend the business and restart the instance. When a sad thing comes, the instance cannot be closed. The error message is shown in the following figure:

You have to change the oracle group back, close the instance, modify it, and then start the instance, and everything is fine. In this process, I was in a hurry and reversed the order, so that it took a lot of time.
