Execute sudo apt-get install dconf-tools in the terminal
Then enter dconf-editor
Find org- > gnome- > gedit- > preferences- > encodings- > auto-detected
Enter the enter key after adding 'GB18030','GB2312','GBK',' at the front to save the input.
My file was modified as follows: ['UTF-8','GB18030','GB2312','GBK','BIG5','CURRENT','UTF-16']. Then ubuntu11.10 can smoothly display txt Chinese and there will be no more Chinese garbled.
