Reliability classification of data center
TIA released ANSI/TIA-942 in 2005 and has since modified it in 2008 and 2010, respectively. This standard defines four levels (Tier) for data centers.
Tier 1:
Single path service IT device
No redundant parts
Basic infrastructure
Available time 99.671% (525600 minutes a year; service outage 1729.224 minutes)
Tier 2:
Meet or exceed the requirements of Tier 1
Redundant infrastructure and parts
Available time 99.741% (525600 minutes a year; service outage 1361.304 minutes)
Tier 3:
Meet the requirements of goods exceeding Tier 1 and Tier2
Multiple independent paths serve IT Devic
All IT devices must be dual power supplies and fully compatible with the topology of the site architecture
Have a maintainable site architecture at the same time
Available time 99.982% (525600 minutes a year; service outage time 94.608 minutes)
Tier 4:
Meet or exceed the requirements of Tier 1 to 3
All cooling equipment uses dual power supplies independently, including refrigeration and heating systems, ventilation and air conditioning systems.
Fault-tolerant site infrastructure and power storage capacity
Available time 99.995% (525600 minutes a year; service outage 26.28 minutes)
