Promiscuous mode
In a computer network, promiscuous mode allows wired or wireless network cards to receive all traffic from CPU. This mode is suitable for grabbing packets on routers, hubs, or WALN. This mode is usually used to detect network connection problems, some programs can show users all the data transmitted on the network, some protocols transmit data in clear text, such as FTP and Telnet, passwords can be captured, so SSH is more secure.
