Each object has a set of valid permissions associated with it. The effective permissions tab of the Advanced Security Settings property page lists the selected groups that will grant permissions directly through group membership or based on user authorization. The effective permissions tool calculates the permissions granted by a specified user or group. When calculating, the permissions in effect for group membership and any permissions inherited from the parent object are taken into account.
