Microsoft: Windows 8 devices will stop getting app updates on July 1 this year
Microsoft, for its part, is accelerating its move away from Windows 8.
Now, Microsoft's official blog says Windows 8 devices will stop getting app updates on July 1, 2019, just like Windows Phone 8.x devices.
The move means they end the Windows 8 lifecycle four years early. Microsoft said it would end support for Windows 8 on July 1, 2023.
Since last year, Windows 8.1 system has entered a five-year extended support service period, Microsoft will only publish security patches for the system, no longer upgrade features, and Windows 10 has become their focus on the promotion of the system version.
It has to be said that Windows 8 is a failure, Microsoft has made too radical changes in the upgrade, introducing a large number of features that support touch and tablet computers, damaging the experience of traditional PC users. Therefore, it is reasonable to be abandoned by users. At present, Windows 7 system is still the favorite of many users.
