What does vt mean?
Editor to share with you what vt refers to, I believe that most people do not know much about it, so share this article for your reference, I hope you can learn a lot after reading this article, let's go to understand it!
What is vt?
VT (Virtualization Technology) is a virtualization support system developed by Intel on its user platform in order to assist the implementation of virtualization technology at the hardware level. Before that, virtualization could only use software to virtualize the underlying architecture.
Introduction to VT
Intel has developed two sets of VT technologies: one is VT-i, which is mainly aimed at the host of Anton architecture; the other is VT-x, which is mainly aimed at the host of IA32 architecture.
VT-x relies on VMX (Virtual Machine Extension) for hardware support for virtualization technologies.
As a chip-assisted virtualization technology, VMX provides two new states for virtualization: root mode (VMX root) and non-root mode (VMX non-root). The root pattern mainly deals with the environment of Ding Host OS or VMM.
In this mode, the behavior of the processor is similar to that without vT technology, and it can handle instructions at all privilege levels well, except that VMX has its own set of instructions and is subject to some restrictions when loading data into certain registers.
The non-root pattern is concerned about the environment of Guest OS or vM. In this environment, many operations of the processor are limited.
