RIP Protocol configuration on dynamic routing
RIP theory part
How the RIP routing protocol works:
V regular updates (Periodic Updates): updates are sent every time a specific period of time elapses.
Neighbor (Neighbors): routers that share the same data.
V broadcast updates (Broadcast Update): when a router is activated for the first time, it uses the easiest method to send an update to the broadcast address.
V full routing table update (Full Routing Table Update): broadcasts its entire routing table.
Metrics and update time of RIP:
The maximum number of hops specified in RIP is 15 and 16 hops are considered unreachable.
RIP uses the UDP protocol and the port number is 520. Information about updating the routing table is sent every 30 seconds on average.
RIP command configuration section
Configure the interface with an IP address and add a loopback address (loopback) on the R1 router.
Configuration commands for the RIP protocol on the router.
Use the command to view the privileged mode show ip route if you view it in global mode, you can add do before show.
Note: when configuring R3, enter the interface F1max 0 of the added layer 2 switch and enter the no switchPort command in this interface to turn off the layer 2 switching function.
