Elasticsearch Scale Out
Current situation:
The company's PRD environment ES cluster consists of 5 machines, 4 DATA nodes and 1 ingest node. The cluster uses the search-guard plug-in for permission control, and the cluster node uses certificates for mutual trust.
Problem: the query response of the developer is a bit slow, and the leader asked the ES cluster to add another node to solve the problem of slow query.
Methods:
1) install ES for the new node, modify the configuration file elasticsearch.yml, and add all nodes ip to the cluster ip list.
2) install the search-guard plug-in and copy the certificates of other nodes to the specified location of the new node.
3) all nodes in the original cluster modify the configuration file elasticsearch.yml and add a new node ip to the cluster ip list.
4) initialize search-guard data.
The newly added nodes can be seen in the cluster over time.
Note: each node can share a certificate file, or it can generate several different certificate files, each using a different certificate. Personally, it is recommended that each node use different certificate files, which can be generated more when creating a cluster for later expansion.
