There are two cases of mail alarm: sending mail using the local mailbox account of the Zabbix server.

First, the Zabbix server simply sends the alarm email to the designated mailbox. The mailbox account that sends the alarm email is the local mailbox account of the Zabbix server (for example: root@localhost.localdomain), which can only be sent and cannot receive external mail.

(1) install sendmail or postfix

Yum install postfix

Service postfix start

Chkconfig postfix on

CentOS 5.x has sendmail installed by default

CentOS 6.x has postfix installed by default

(2) install the mail sending tool mailx

Yum install mailx

CentOS 5.x compilation and installation of mailx, direct yum installation of the mailx version is too old, using external mail will be a problem.

Yum remove mailx # Uninstalls the old version of mailx that comes with the system

Test sent email, title zabbix, message content: zabbix test mail, mailbox sent to: xxx@139.com

Echo "zabbix test mail today" | mail-s "zabbix" 15269208070@139.com

2. Use a mailbox account that can send and receive mail normally on the Internet (for example: xxx@139.com). By setting it in the Zabbix server, it can send alarm mail to the specified mailbox.

Vi / etc/mail.rc / / add the following at the end of the file

Set from=XXXX@163.com smtp=smtp.163.com

Set smtp-auth-user=XXXX@163.com smtp-auth-password=*

Set smtp-auth=login

XXXX@163.com mailbox is the mailbox used by zabbix to send mail. Be sure to open the SMTP service of this mailbox before using this mailbox.

The yyy@126.com mailbox is an inbox, that is, when an alarm occurs at the server, the alarm information will be sent to the operation and maintenance staff.
