System76's first Poppers release OS: Linux release based on Ubuntu 17.10
System76, a well-known Linux PC manufacturer, has just released its first GNU / Linux release, which is based on Canonical's latest Ubuntu 17.10 (Artful Aardvark). System76 hopes to bring a whole new experience to GNU / Linux desktop users with built-in full drivers for System76 computers, as well as many other improvements and minor tweaks.
the company says its computers are powerful and its operating system is quite versatile:
the desktop operating system has deviated too far from casual users, and we are creating a dedicated operating system for software developers, creators, and computer science professionals who use computers as tools for discovery and creation.
following in the footsteps of Ubuntu 17.10, Poppy desktop OS has adopted the latest GNOME distribution as its default desktop environment:
Linux 4.13 kernel like Artful Aardvark, video playback hardware acceleration that supports Intel GPU, USB audio and Bluetooth support out of the box, and extended driver-free printing for Wi-Fi Direct and Mopria devices.
given System76's extensive experience in building highly customized Linux desktops, we are also looking forward to its debut Poppy desktop OS Linux release, with proprietary themes and some internal build tools.
in order to make it easy for users to apply various patches and drivers at any time, System76 has also made a Linux installer for the Poppy installed OS, which has a minimum system requirement of 2GB storage + 16GB storage for the Popper installed OS Linux distribution.
interested netizens can download it from System76's official website and try to install it even if they don't buy a computer from System76, but only 64-bit 's system ISO image (Intel / AMD and Nvidia GPU are supported).
