The previous article basically completed the relevant prerequisites for SQL failover clustering, and the next article will share with you how to implement Windows failover clustering (the foundation of SQL clustering).

We need to install multipath I\ O and failover on the SQL01 and SQL02 node servers

After the installation is complete, open the failover cluster on any node and start creating the failover cluster

Right-click to create a cluster (usually verify the cluster first and then create it. You can skip verification and create it directly, and verify it automatically during the creation process)

Add SQL01 and SQL02 to the cluster as cluster nodes

Perform configuration verification tests on the cluster

Verification complete

After verification, it will automatically jump back to the window where the cluster was created, and fill in the cluster name and IP (an A record is automatically created in DNS, which is the name of the Windows failover cluster).

Click next to create a cluster

After the cluster is created, you need to add the cluster disk. Right select the disk and select add disk.

Select the shared disk obtained through iscsi above (the picture also has BUG, just look at it, and finally there will be disk 3)

Finish adding cluster disk

Next, select that 1GB disk as the quorum disk for the entire failover cluster, right-click the cluster name, and select configure quorum in more operations.

Choose arbitration witness and take the next step

Select configure disk Witness and next

Select 1GB disk size (ignore the picture without the third disk BUG)

Next, configure arbitration.

All right, make up the last disk chart.

After configuring the arbitration, then configure DTC

Right-click in the cluster role to configure the role and select DTC

Write the access name and IP address of DTC here.

Then select the 3GB size as the storage disk and next configure DTC high availability

Well, now the entire Windows failover cluster has been created (DTC is the basis for SQL failover). The following article will introduce you to the implementation of SQL clustering
