Start ProFTPD

Before starting, make some changes to the startup script of the super server's ProFTPD.

[root@sample certs] # vi / etc/xinetd.d/xproftpd ← Edit ProFTPD startup script

Log_on_success + = DURATION USERID ← find this line and change "DURATION USERID" to "HOST PID"

↓

Log_on_success + = HOST PID ← changes to this state to prevent you from having to wait 30 seconds when logging in

Log_on_failure + = USERID ← find this line and change "USERID" to "HOST"

↓

Log_on_failure + = HOST ← changes to this state to prevent you from having to wait 30 seconds when logging in

Disable = yes ← find this line and change yes to no

↓

Disable = no ← changes to this state, allowing ProFTPD to start through the super server

Then, start ProFTPD indirectly by restarting the super server.

[root@sample certs] # chkconfig xproftpd on ← sets ProFTPD self-startup

[root@sample certs] # chkconfig-- list xproftpd ← View ProFTPD self-startup

The status confirmed by xproftpd on ← as on is OK.

[root@sample certs] # / etc/rc.d/init.d/xinetd restart ← restart the super server

Stopping xinetd: [OK]

Starting xinetd: [OK]
