Solution to the problem of blank or black box in Windows 10 search box
Due to a server-side problem, the Windows Search user search box function was interrupted today and the search box does not display any search results. Frustrated Windows 10 users responded and discussed, and Microsoft finally acknowledged the problem with the report.
On February 5th, many users encountered this problem when running Windows 10 PC that was updated in November 2019 and updated in May 2019. Users report that they cannot use the Windows search built into the operating system because of a blank or black box.
Microsoft is launching a fix for Windows Search, and the problem has been resolved for most users. In some cases, you may need to restart the device once, twice, or even three times to restore Windows search.
Microsoft said in a statement that "third-party network fiber providers" had affected Windows Search, which meant that Windows Search services were offline on the desktop due to infrastructure failures.
Some users have found that disabling Bing and Cortana integration can temporarily solve this problem.
The solution to the Windows search problem is as follows:
Open run or press Windows + R
Enter "cmd"
Enter the following command
Reg add HKCU\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Search / v BingSearchEnabled / t REG_DWORD / d 0 / f
Reg add HKCU\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Search / v CortanaConsent / t REG_DWORD / d 0 / f
Restart Windows 10 PC
