Microsoft just showed off its upcoming Edge browser for Mac at its annual Build developer conference.

In a blog post detailing the new features of Edge, Microsoft provides a preview of the look of the Edge browser on macOS, using the same open source Chromium rendering engine as Google browser. Although it only provides a simple screenshot, the browser looks a bit like Chrome.

Microsoft released the first preview version of the revamped Edge browser last month, but the browser's macOS is still listed as "coming soon", and foreign media believe that the Mac version will be launched "soon."

Internet Explorer was the default Web browser on Mac from 1998 to 2003, until Apple launched Safari on Mac OS X Panther, and Safari has been the default browser for Mac ever since. The Mac version of Internet Explorer was last updated 16 years ago, and now it looks like Edge will be Microsoft's first browser on Mac in 16 years. The Edge browser replaced IE as the default browser for Windows systems in 2015.
