Error when starting the virtual machine: another task is being processed and cannot boot properly

one。 There is an error message when VMware vSphere Client starts the virtual machine: "another task is in progress" and the problem cannot be booted properly.

two。 The situation occurs:

When the virtual machine is booted, the boot is very slow, as a result, when it is about 89%, the operation timed out 25 minutes later, indicating that "another task is being processed" and cannot boot normally.

three。 Solution:

Ideally, there is no need to restart ESXi Server or the server, so that the scope of impact is minimal.

Enable the ssh service of the ESXi host, which is not enabled by default. Enable step: configure-Security profile-- attributes in the service. Just find ssh and click enable.

Log in to ESXi remotely and restart the VMware service with SecurtCRT or other tools. The command is: / etc/init.d/hostd restart to view the process of the virtual machine, and run the following command:

The virtual machine name is the name in your VMware vSphere Client management list, which is the process PID. Run the kill-9 PID command to try to end all the PID displayed. After the process is over, restart the service, / etc/init.d/hostd restart, the virtual machine that cannot boot should be OK, and there may be other scenarios that can be applied, such as when you reset the virtual machine or when you shut down the virtual machine.
