RFC 8314 requires that SMTP connections to port 8314 use TLS (instead of STARTTLS), and require_tls (or global smtp_require_tls) must be set to false to prevent alertmanager from trying to STARTTLS.

When users start looking for ways to secure e-mail messages, the port is first introduced. The idea was to use SSL (secure Sockets layer) to encrypt messages. But at that time, doing so meant using a separate port.

Use the other two ports, one for plaintext messages and the other for encrypting messages, which can also be found in other network protocols, such as:
