Deploy AD in Windows Server 2016

Role installation

Open the server manager on the computer where you need to install the AD domain controller, and click "add roles and Features"

Open the add roles and Features Wizard and click next

Select role-based or feature-based installation for installation type, and click next.

Select "Select server from server pool", select the local server in the pool, and click "next"

If you select "Active Directory Domain Services" in the server role, "what functions do you need to add Active Directory Domain Services?" pop up. , click "add feature"

After the server role selects Active Directory Domain Services, click next

Make sure to tick "restart the target server automatically if necessary" and click "install"

Installing

Active Directory domain service role installation is complete, click "close"

Run the deployment Wizard

Run the AD DS (short for Active Directory Domain Services) deployment wizard, open the server manager for the local server, and click "Notification"-"promote this server to domain controller"

Open the AD DS deployment wizard. Since we are deploying a new AD controller here, select "add New Forest" for deployment configuration, set the "root domain name" to "contoso.com", and click "next".

Add a new domain to an existing forest: create a new domain in the existing forest, different from the existing domain in the forest

Add new forest: create a new forest without a forest

Domain Controller options:

Forest functional level (including Windows Server 2008 to Windows Server 2016): Windows Server 2016

Domain functional level (Windows Server 2016 domain features only): Windows Server 2016

Automatic deployment is in progress, and the server will be automatically restarted when the deployment is complete.
