Introduction to the upgrade of Windows Server 2008 R2
This time, I took an AD upgrade project, upgrading from 2008 R2 to 2016, and took advantage of this opportunity to write a blog.
Let's first introduce the current environment. The first primary domain control is Windows Server 2003 R2. Then I added three 2008 R2 domain controls, and then demoted 2003 R2 to the domain. At present, both the forest and domain function levels are 2003. The upgraded DC will inherit the previous IP address and HostName, and the functional level of forest and domain will be raised to 2016.
This upgrade series includes Backup and Restore of Windows Server, backup and restore of CA, uninstallation and deployment of domain controllers, and upgrade of SYSVOL replication mode. I hope it can bring some help to friends who have just entered the pit.
