Septor Linux is an emerging desktop GNU/Linux distribution that is based on the Debian "Testing" branch and supports launch in live mode. It uses Tor to encrypt network traffic to access the network anonymously, and carries some common daily or anonymous software. Septor Linux is one of a growing number of projects that focus on anonymity and privacy when accessing the Internet.

Unlike the famous Tails, Septor Linux comes with the KDE Plasma desktop environment by default, rather than the GNOME that comes with Tails.

The latest version of the project, Septor Linux 2019, has been released a few days ago, ushering in the kernel of Linux 4.19.12, KDE Plasma 5.14.3, LibreOffice 6.1.3, GIMP 2.10.8 and VLC 3.0.5. In addition, this version includes an launcher for downloading the latest version of Tor browser, OnionShare 1.3.2 (an anonymous file sharing service) and Ricochet 1.1.4 (an instant messaging client developed by the Invisible.im group).

This version also comes with Thunderbird 60.3.1, HexChat 2.14.2 and QuiteRSS 0.18.12. These software are preconfigured to access the network directly through Tor.

In this version, some applications have been replaced, and the current complete list of programs is as follows:

Septor Linux supports live mode and can be booted directly from media such as USB flash drives that burn ISO images.
