Earlier, some owners of Tesla's Model 3 reported that in some cold areas in winter, the Model 3 would not open because the doors were frozen and the windows were frozen.

Because the Model 3 uses hidden door handles and frameless doors, the unlocking rear door handles have to pop out automatically to open the door, and the window may slide slightly when opening the door, so the freezing causes the Model 3 doors to be "sealed" in winter.

To make matters worse, the plug on the car's charging interface will be frozen in the cold winter, making it impossible to disconnect the charging line from the car.

After the application of the new function, Tesla changed the mechanism of the charging port and will not lock the charging plug in place, reducing the possibility of being frozen. In addition, the heat flow is directed to the window through an upgrade to make it easier to open the door in cold weather, and this preheating function can also be operated directly through the mobile app.
