1. Clone a virtual machine: create a replica virtual machine based on the original virtual machine. Have the same virtual hardware, installed software, and other properties as the original virtual machine. Clone can be turned on or off. There are two kinds of clones: complete cloning and linked cloning. Complete cloning is completely independent of the original virtual machine and does not share any resources. Link clone and the original virtual machine share the same virtual disk file can not be separated from the original virtual machine, which can reduce the cloning time and save disk space.

2. Virtual machine template: a virtual machine is made into a template, and the cloning of the virtual machine is initiated through the template. Templates cannot be edited or launched as virtual machines. It must be installed and replaced in the off state. When deploying a virtual machine from a template, you can re-regulate the virtual machine, such as setting the hostname, ip, administrator password, generating a new id, and so on.

3. Virtual machine snapshot: backup of the vmdk file of the virtual machine at a certain point in time. When the snapshot is restored, the system reverts to the state it was in at the time of the snapshot. A snapshot that can take multiple snapshots but can only be restored to any one point in time.
