1. Click add roles and functions in Server Manager

10. Confirm the installation content and click install

11. When the role installation is complete, click to promote this server to a domain controller.

12. At this point, the installation of the AD domain service role is partially completed, which is not significantly different from the previous 2016 and 2012, and generally remains basically the same.

Second, promote the server to a domain controller

13. Because it is a new test environment, choose to add a new forest, enter the root domain name, and click next

14. The functional level of the forest and domain is selected here. Very disappointed, there is no new function level. As Windows Server 2019, the function level is only 2016. I don't know when a new one will come out. This seems to confirm once again that Microsoft has completely shifted its focus to the cloud.

Here is a warning, never mind, go straight to the next step

16. Prompt for the NetBIOS domain name. The default one is used here, which goes directly to the next step.

17. Path selection. The default path is used here to go straight to the next step.

18. Confirm the installation options and go straight to the next step.

19. Wait for the completion of the prerequisite check

20. Prompt all checks to pass, click install

21. Wait for the installation to complete.

22. Restart automatically after the installation is completed

Third, check after installation

23. After the restart is completed, check the DNS to see if the following SRV records are normal.

24. At this point, the installation of the first DC in the Windows Server 2019 forest is completed, and there is basically no change in the process compared with 2012 and 2016.
