Release on January 17, 2022: PlayStation 3 games have begun to appear in PlayStation 5 stores

January 17, 2022: according to VGC, PlayStation 3 games have begun to appear in PlayStation 5 stores, suggesting that Sony may introduce further backward compatibility support for consoles.

When viewing PS3 games in the PS5 store, the list should lead players to the PlayStation Now version of the game, but death or Life 5 shows a price of £7.99.

In addition, some players said that PS3's "Gem Maze" and "Prince of Persia" games also appeared in the PS5 store, but could not buy them.

IT House learned that PS5 system architect Mark Cerny had filed a patent for backward compatibility through the use of spoofing clocks and fine-grained frequency control, so there has been a lot of speculation that Sony has finally developed a backward compatible solution for old games.

In addition, Bloomberg reported that PlayStation is preparing a benchmarking service for Xbox Game Pass, codenamed "Spartacus".
