USB-C hubs are very popular now, and Sony is playing games with MRW-S3. It is a beautiful hub that can check many high-end boxes, such as 100W USB-C PD charging and most UHS-II SD card readers are not available.

For any hub, the most important specification is the port it provides. Sony has a number of ports: a HDMI port for video (supporting 4K video for 30 fps), a USB-C PD port for plugging in power (up to speeds above 100W), and USB-C and USB-A ports for external devices and accessories, all of which are rated USB 3.1 Gen 2. Sony also said that this specification makes its hub the fastest on the market, with transmission speeds of 1000 MB/s, at least for USB-C ports. The circle is an SD card and a microSD card slot, both of which are UHS II cards.

Finally, there is the last USB-C port for connecting hubs to the computer using USB-C-to-USB-C cables, which is a good point of contact-most hubs provide only integrated cables or connectors, while individual cables leave space. If the user needs more flexibility, if the component is damaged or the cable becomes longer, the user can replace it with a new cable.

There is some sophistry: for example, there is only one USB-A port, which is often one of the main reasons for buying such a hub, but a second USB-C port is added for data (compared to the usual power supply, I hope the USB-C will eventually get enough foundation that a second USB-A port is no longer needed. Other high-end hubs do not have mini display ports.

Unfortunately, Sony did not release the key details of the MRW-S3: price, which may determine whether it is worth buying. But at least on paper, Sony seems to provide a high-end USB-C hub for use cases that are more demanding than normal hubs.
