In order to solve the problem of network instability and frequent downtime on Mac OS X 10.10, Apple made a helpless decision to delete the new Discoveryd network task thread and re-enable the old mDNSresponder.

After studying iOS 9 with Xcode Instruments development tools, you can find that mDNSresponder is back.

MDNSresponder is still used in OS X 10.11 El Capitan.
