Toshiba is entering the HDD market with 30TV memory
In the era of virtual home office, consumers have higher and higher requirements for storage capacity. Corporate users are also investing in larger data centers. Toshiba responds appropriately to current trends with its latest hardware innovation.
The manufacturer officially launched the latest member of the NAS HDD series of hard drives. The updated model is part of the MN09 series and will guarantee an impressive 18 TB capacity. The company also announced a partnership with Show Denko, which will accelerate the development of hard drives with 30 TB memory.
One of the key features of MN09 18TB optical disk is the new microwave-assisted magnetic recording (MAMR) technology. This innovation, combined with the Flux Control system, provides a higher density for each "tile" on the hard drive. According to TechSpot, other specifications include the speed of 7200rpm, the buffer of 512MB and the maximum data transfer of 268MB/s.
The future development of MAMR technology will continue with experts from Showa Electric. Compared with the earlier modules using MAMR technology, when recording data in a smaller space, the capacity will be increased by using a stronger magnetic oscillation effect. The general design is called MAS-MAMR, which changes the coercivity of the hard disk by microwave.
The MAS-MAMR production chain will also include TDK, which will involve key components on the hard drive. At this stage, Toshiba did not commit to a specific deadline before we can look forward to their first 30TV NDD. Competitors to Seagate and Western Digital already offer 20TV in their new models and hope to switch to 30TB by the middle of the century.
