Mercado Libre warns suppliers not to sell fake Apple products
Mercado Libre, a popular online market in Latin America, plans to crack down on the sale of fake Apple products through its website.
Online sellers using Mercado Libre (also known as Mercado Livre in Brazil) have begun to receive emails warning against peddling fake Apple products.
Sellers caught peddling counterfeit goods such as AirPods will delete all products that sell Apple products. In addition, Mercado Libre will prohibit the account from selling any Apple products in the future.
According to an email seen by 9to5mac, Mercado Libre will take action against sellers "if Apple confirms the report of counterfeit products", suggesting that the two companies may work together to stop the sale of such products.
Apple products are often copied by dishonest third-party sellers, some of which are almost indistinguishable from genuine ones. AppleInsider recently pointed out how close these fakes are to the real ones.
