Huawei has again delayed the launch of the Mate X foldable smartphone, which is unlikely to hit the market before November. At a press conference in China, the company told TechRadar that it was "unlikely" the device would launch in September.

This is the second time Huawei has delayed the launch of a phone that was supposed to be released in June or July.

The report did not disclose the reason for the delay, but it may have been that the company took special care not to copy Samsung's announcement of an inappropriate foldable phone.

Samsung originally planned to launch the Galaxy Fold in the spring, but the launch was eventually delayed after several reviewers suffered damage to the device.

Galaxy Fold is now scheduled to launch in September. Before Mate X, --would be delayed by some design changes Samsung made.

Mate X uses Huawei's so-called "Falcon Wing" design and retractable hinge, allowing smartphones to transform from 6.6-inch OLED smartphones to 8-inch OLED tablets, larger than Galaxy Fold.

It can also fold in the opposite direction to the Samsung phone, so when folded into smartphone view, you can see the display on the front and back of the device. The "wings" on the side are equipped with cameras that allow Mate X to display seamlessly.

Samsung priced its Galaxy Fold at $1980, but the Mate X was more expensive at $2600.

Apple is reportedly exploring folding screen technology, but there are no rumors that Apple plans to actually release a foldable smartphone in the near future.
