Now, Google has brought the function of the dial, using hardware acceleration, so that it can present a visually pleasant interface at a higher frame rate.

This new feature also gives the dial a smoother animation and transition effect. Including this feature means a better end-user experience. This new improvement comes from canvas and currently applies only to Android 9 smartwatches.

Google updated its wearable support library (version 2.7.0) in May to allow developers to request hardware acceleration canvases. In this way, more Debug GPU performance data can be obtained through UI performance analysis. If possible, it can be found under Settings and then under the developer option.

Like other features that use hardware acceleration, this is a battery consumer. Therefore, developers must remember that it takes too long for the animation of the dial to be balanced. Google said: "this guide is not specifically for using hardware acceleration, but because using hardware acceleration increases the number of frames you can draw, so it is particularly important to follow this guide."
