Intel has been launching a new HEDT CPU for some time, and according to this week's report, we will wait longer. Obviously, Intel's next-generation HEDT platform, code-named "Fishhawk Falls", will be based on the Sapphire Rapids server platform and adapt to mainstream workstations.

According to Moore's Law is dead, Intel's next-generation HEDT processor will have a maximum number of cores between 28 and 36 cores because it uses MCC design. It is said that the maximum boost clock speed is about 4.5GHz, which may reach 5.0GHz. The TDP is said to be between 270W and 400W, but currently, top models run at only 300W. Fishhawk Falls should support DDR5 memory across 4x channels, with ECC and 64x PCIe 5.0channels.

On the top side, Intel is still developing Sapphire Rapids, which will take over from Ice Lake next year. These new Xeon processors can be equipped with up to 56 cores and are enhanced over 4GHz. It is said that the current top chips in the series are running at 350 W TDP and are testing 12-core samples.

The new platform is expected to support DDR5 memory for PCIe 5.0x (112x channels) and 8x memory channels. If all 16x DIMMs are populated, the memory speed should be up to 4400Mbit/s, but if only 8x DIMMs is occupied, the memory speed may increase to 4800Mbit/s. Currently, only one CPU is supported per motherboard, but this may also change.
