Magnetic tag trackers can already help you find lost items, but now they may help you before a panic attack. The company will reissue a beta version of Smart Alert to automatically issue a warning when you leave the tracking project site for at least five minutes. If you leave the cafe without your bag, you'd better call the police before you get to the bus. You will need to subscribe in advance ($30 per year or $3 per month), but this may be a small fee if you are unwilling to leave valuable products in a few minutes. The beta version will be released in December.

Fortunately, false alarms should not be a problem. You can define a "security zone" for the project to determine whether it should receive alerts. You may want your coat to sound the alarm when you leave the bar, but on a warm summer day, it will sound the alarm when you are not at home.

Not everyone needs this kind of instant response, but it must be stressful for Tile to introduce such a feature. As Apple appears to be developing its own tracker, Tile is likely to compete with technology giants that may closely integrate tags with other devices. The new smart reminder will give iPhone users a reason to choose Tile from Apple's "default" option.
