In the past few years, LG has not made any major changes to the design of its flagship mobile phone. Even if the number of rear cameras increases, the design language remains basically the same. However, the company's next phone will adopt a completely new design.
Zha Yongdu, head of the LG Mobile Communications Design Laboratory, said in a statement:
Our upcoming smartphones will learn from the long history of LG's classic designs, which are always different at first contact. This phone will be the first time that we will bring competitive advantage to every LG smartphone in the future.
LG says its new design language is "homage to nature" and its visual appearance is very different from current industry trends. Although a large number of high-end smartphones released this year have large square cameras on the back, the upcoming LG smartphone will be equipped with a raindrop camera.
From the rendering above, you can clearly see that there will be three cameras in the upper left corner of the phone, arranged in descending order of size, thus evoking the "image of raindrops". The LED flash will be located directly below the three camera arrays. LG said the Raindrop camera design not only takes up less space on the back of the phone, but also has a cleaner appearance.
Together with the Raindrop camera, the new design language combines what LG calls "3D arc design." And the edges of the display and backplane bend symmetrically, ensuring that the feel of the hand is more "natural" than the company's previous devices.
Although not confirmed by LG, the device shown in the above effect image may be a follow-on product of LG G8. It is rumored that the upcoming "flagship" phone will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset and will be launched on May 15.
