Nintendo Switch once again topped the list of game console sales
According to NPD's Mat Piscatella, Nintendo Switch surpassed both Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 in unit and dollar sales in February after rebounding from weakness in January. Last month, PS5 became the best-selling gaming hardware in the United States, while Switch was second only to Xbox Series X.
The intermittent rule of SWITCH has a lot to do with usability.
Since PS5 broke Switch's nearly three-year winning streak last October, Switch and PS5 have been swapping top-ranked consoles. However, its peak was short-lived, as the new Switch OLED boosted console sales, bringing it back to number one in November 2021 and December 2021. By 2022, Switch will sell the most, while PS5 will make the most money.
Of course, the intermittent dominance of Switch has a lot to do with usability. The global chip shortage makes it difficult to find PS5 and Xbox Series X without paying scalpers. Meanwhile, although Nintendo cut its production by 20% by March 2022, the Switch--, a five-year-old game console, is easier to find in stores and online. As long as the availability of Xbox Series X and PS5 increases, it will be interesting to see how Switch sales grow.
As for the best-selling games, Elden Ring tops the list (if you can't guess). What makes this victory even more impressive, however, is that Elden Ring, just four days after its launch in February, still outsold the newly released Horizo n II: Forbidden West and Pok é mon Legends: Arceus.
