Microsoftdefender third-party antivirus software (Microsoft launches its Defender antivirus software to iOS and Android)
Microsoft said on Thursday that it plans to introduce its antivirus software Defender Advanced Wealth Protection to phones and other devices running Apple's iOS and Google's Android.
The software, also known as Defender ATP, is available on Windows and MacOS. Microsoft says it provides preventive protection, post-intrusion detection and automatic investigation and response.
On mobile devices, Microsoft's Rob Lefferts told consumer news and business channels that Defender software can help companies protect employees from malware and phishing. Letv told consumer news and business channels that Apple and Google's app stores are "quite secure" but that "there is malware on these platforms".
It is not clear when Microsoft will release iOS and Android antivirus software, but the software will be available later this year, according to the Consumer News and Business Channel.
