Nowadays, with the increase of our media consumption, it is not surprising that smart TV is widely used in modern times. However, in many cases, the use of a TV remote control for system navigation is indeed comparable to the intuitive tapping of a smartphone touch screen. That's why screen mirroring between devices is so useful that Samsung may be preparing to improve it as a whole.
As LetsGoDigital discovered, the South Korean tech giant has just applied for a patent called Samsung Tap View, which sounds like a nice new feature that can easily mirror the display of a smartphone on a smart TV with the slightest touch.
Software systems such as Miracast or Chromecast make mirroring more seamless, but they are still cumbersome, sometimes requiring you to tamper with Wi-Fi settings or log in to your Google account. Samsung's Tap View, on the other hand, may make the whole process easier. It may be convenient to mirror it on a monitor at a friend's home or hotel.
It's not clear what makes the new feature powerful, but the obvious choice is NFC or near-field communication, which makes contactless payments possible. In fact, NFC is already used on many Bluetooth devices to promote seamless pairing, so it makes sense to use NFC to build a simpler imaging system.
If Samsung did use NFC, it wouldn't be the first to do so. Sony has also added NFC graphics to its recent smart TVs, although this feature has not attracted much attention. First of all, Tap View is an exciting step towards a more connected future (cool!) So we are happy to see when and where it appears.
