Microsoft may launch Windows 11 as a free update, but reality paints a grim picture for the company's new operating system. Less than 2 per cent of all PC surveyed activated Windows 11, according to a report focusing on business and consumer PC. Windows 11 is enabled even on smaller systems than Microsoft's popular Windows XP.

The data was recently surveyed by Lansweeper, an IT asset management company. Let us tell you that it maps 10 million PC from all over the world. According to the survey, there are more PC users running Windows XP than Windows 11. Although the survey found that 1.71% of PC had Windows XP installed, only 1.44% of people switched to Windows 11.

This is a disappointing number for this operating system. Even more shocking is that more systems are still using Windows 7 or Windows 8, with percentages of 4.7% and 1.99%, respectively.

The reality is that most commercial PC running Windows still uses Windows 10. About 80.3% of the machines running Windows are Windows 10. While switching from Windows 10 to Windows 11 is free, it's a big step for most enterprises. High hardware requirements seem to be an obstacle to the adoption of Windows 11. According to a survey by Lensweeper, about 55% of devices are not compatible with Windows 11. Microsoft pointed out that there is a major flaw in TPM 2.0 requirements, which is an important step towards establishing basic security measures.
