Apple Music is adding classical music content from Primephonic

Apple has acquired classical music streaming service Primephonic, and the company plans to integrate the app's features and playlists into Apple Music. A press release shared by Apple shows that Apple Music subscribers will soon be able to enjoy a significantly improved classical music experience. The company also plans to add better browsing and search capabilities to Apple Music in the coming months, including composers and tracks, detailed display of classical music metadata, and other new features.

Speaking of the acquisition, Oliver Schusser, vice president of Apple Music and Beats, said: "We love and deeply respect classical music. Primephonic has become a favorite of classical music lovers. Together, we will bring excellent classical new features to Apple Music, and in the near future, we will provide the best dedicated classical experience in the real world."

This version further shows that Primephonic will no longer accept new subscribers and that the service will be offline from September 7. Next year, Apple plans to launch a dedicated classical music application that will have Primephonic's classical user interface and many additional features.

If you are an existing Primephonic subscriber, you will receive a pro rata refund to the original payment method based on the remaining days of the subscription. You will also get a free Apple Music for six months. This will give you access to all Primephonic's classic albums in a lossless format, as well as hundreds of classic albums in Apple Music's Spatial Audio.
