Whatsapp exits test mode (dark mode has been upgraded to WhatsApp on Android and iOS)
WhatsApp has finally added native dark mode to Android and iOS apps. Today, the company announced that "the features that people around the world need most" will be extended to Android and iOS devices in the coming days.
As expected, the new dark mode is designed to reduce eye fatigue in low light environments. The dark theme created by WhatsApp is not really black, but a special dark gray background and grayish white, which may reduce the brightness of the screen and improve contrast and readability.
If you are using an Android 9.0 phone, you can enter the settings / chat / theme after updating WhatsApp and choose dark color to enable the new dark mode. For those lucky enough to have an Android 10 phone, you can enable the new dark mode from the system settings.
The same is true for iPhone users, who can enable the new dark mode from the system settings. As mentioned above, dark mode will be used in the latest version of the app and will be installed on Android and iOS devices in the next few days, so please feel free to use it until it is available for download.
