First, can it be uninstalled by stopping the service and terminating the process and uninstalling it?

The answer is no.

There are 3 symantec services, the first two can be terminated, but the symantec Endpoint Protection service is opened in gray, can not be terminated.

Then kill the process, use the taskkill command to forcibly terminate the process, and find that it does not work, and there is too much protection.

Second, can I go to safe mode to stop the service and kill the process to uninstall it?

The answer is no.

When starting, press F8 to enter windows safe mode, you can stop 3 symantec services, but can not kill the symantec process, still cannot uninstall

Third, do you need tools to uninstall?

The answer is yes.

You can uninstall using CleanWipe specialized tools, but be careful to match the version of symantec installed on the virtual machine, which is lower than the installed version. And after uninstalling, you need to clean up the SYMANTEC residual options and healthy values in the registry and restart the virtual machine.

Add: if you need a password to uninstall, you can modify the registry

Find the UseVPUninstallPassword key in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-SOFTWARE-SYMANTEC-SYMANTEC ENDPOINT PRTECTION-SECURITY, fix the DWORD value, and change 1 to 0.
