New Auxiliary functions of Apple products
Apple announced several new and updated features for the disabled this week. From May 20th, customers will be able to use the new SignTime sign language translation service to communicate with AppleCare and retail customer service through a web browser. Later this year, software updates will be available for iOS, watchOS and iPadOS, as well as advanced options for touch assistance, voiceover, hearing aid support and background sound.
The new SignTime service was first launched in the US, UK and France. Provide remote translation of American sign language, British sign language and French sign language. People can also use the Apple Store service to get translation services without having to make an appointment in advance. It is possible to avoid the trouble of dealing with interpreters in a short period of time.
People with different limbs will be able to use auxiliary touch in watchOS, which will enable them to use AppleWatch without touching the screen. It is unclear which AppleWatch model Apple is suitable for. Apple said the AppleWatch can detect muscle and tendon movements through its built-in sensors, allowing users to control the cursor on the watch screen, answer phone calls, access notifications and do more by making various gestures.
IPad OS will support third-party eye movement devices, allowing people with mobility disabilities to move their eyes and perform actions by staring at the screen instead of touching it.
Apple's built-in screen reader VoiceOver will be updated to include more details in the image. According to Apple, this feature will enable people to browse images with text and data tables through rows and columns, and identify people and objects in the images. People can also use tags to add image descriptions.
Apple plans to develop its iPhone hearing aid program by supporting two-way hearing aids. In addition, users can upload the listening test results to the headset layout, making it easier to customize how the function amplifies sound and adjusts different frequencies.
Apple provides background sounds for people with neurological diversity (or those who like white noise) and can be used in conjunction with other sounds and system sounds. "balanced, bright or dark sounds, as well as the sounds of the ocean, Rain Water or currents" will be played continuously and can be adjusted to mask distracting or overwhelming sounds.
Other features Apple plans to launch later this year include using accents such as click or burst rather than using physical buttons, customizing screen and text size settings in separate apps, and new Memoji options, including cochlear implants, oxygen tubes and soft helmets.
