Apple recently updated its Apple Care website to provide new program services for Apple buyers. The company now offers new Apple computer buyers an option to buy Apple Care on an annual subscription basis. Previously, Apple offered AppleCare as a three-year plan, and users had to pay for three years at a time. Now, AppleCare can subscribe for three years, but you can pay for it annually.

New Mac users can register for AppleCare once a year at the time of purchase or within about a month after purchase. Users can contact Apple through Apple's retail stores, online Apple Store, Apple support apps, or even phone calls to get a new annual plan.

As expected, the annual subscription fee for AppleCare will be a little higher than the one-time full payment for three years. As Mark Goolman of Bloomberg points out, if you subscribe to AppleCare's annual subscription service and buy a 16-inch MacBook Pro instead of a three-year plan, you'll end up paying an extra $40. The annual subscription price for the 16-inch MacBook Pro apple care is $140 a year, compared with $380 for the three-year plan. So you'll end up paying an extra $40.

Similarly, for a 13-inch MacBook Air, you will end up paying an extra $10 within three years. The new change comes nearly two months after Apple slashed the price of its new M1 MacBook AppleCare program.

Apple Care Service extends the warranty period of your Apple computer. Generally speaking, Mac offers a limited one-year warranty, but by purchasing AppleCare, you can extend it to a total of three years. Now, by subscribing to a monthly plan three years later, the warranty is even longer. AppleCare services include accidental damage and priority access to Apple support.
